CATHY NYRKKANEN
Originally from northern Michigan, Cathy moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2002. Her "professional" recreation history includes working as a ski instructor in Breckenridge, Colorado; Perisher Blue, Australia and then as the Manager of the Children's ski school at Stevens Pass, Washington. Outside of the ski industry she has worked for the National Forests and Parks Service as a hydrology technician and back country patroller.
Cathy became drawn to the world of adaptive recreation professionally after volunteering for programs such as the BOEC and Northern Michigan Adaptive Sports and Recreation. In her free time, Cathy enjoys climbing mountains, skiing, and golfing. She joined the Outdoors for All team full time in 2005, and feels very fortunate to be able to make a living sharing her personal passion for the outdoors with people of all abilities.
Cathy holds a PSIA level 1 RM certification and is a current member of The Mountaineers. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seattle University with a B.A. in liberal studies.
